چکیده

(ibl)berellinl-like stulstances occtlr in mianv higher pllants (1 2, 17, 20). and sexeral have beenl idenitified (12). Tlhe presence of gibberelliln-like activity in seedless fruit, of V'itis v'iiifcra L. was (lenlonstrated in 1960 by Coombe (1). Although it seemiis probable that sulch a widely spread hormonie also would be invxolved in the groxwth of seede(d fruit, Coombe was unable to demnonstrate the presence of gibberellin in crude extract fromii such frtuit. One objective of the present research was to study clhromnatographed extracts of both seeded and(i seedless varieties of grap)es to determinie the presence of gibberellin-like activity. In the plast. much extraction for gibberellinis wvas donie at low pH. In our work we tuse(d 3 acid( fractionls. In ad(litioni a netutral extract was obtained, as several investigators have (lenlonlstrate(l the presence of gibberellin-like actixityin nieutral portionis of extracts (2, 3, 4, 5. 6, 21). To l)roadlen the spectrumiii a basic fraction \ as also examinied. A secol(l ol)jective \\-as to (leteriinie the effect of ringing (girdling ) oni gibberellin-like activity in the berries. It is wvell knlownN-i that a temporary riniginig of certain varieties of fruit trees anid grapes increases the size of (leveloping fruits. Ringing lonlg hCas beeni lracticed to inicrease the size of lBlack Corinith anid Thompson Seedless berries (7 ). The classical theorv is the enilargemiienit of the fruit resuilts from the ilncreased suppl)l of elaborated food miiaterial trappe(l above the rinlg. Aniother possibility. however. is that planlt hormilonies trappedl above the rinig cause fruiit enlargemiient. Onle miietho(d for greatly enlarginig fruits of these varieties is to treat unirinlged vines With exogenious gibberellins (19). Since both ringinlg and treatment wvith gibberellins result in enlarged fruiit, it is likely that riniging may affect tlle enidogellotus gibberellin colntenlt of the lberries.

Effect of Potassium and Iron on Berries Resveratrol and Viniferin Accumulation and Antioxidant Capacity of ‘Bidaneh Sefid’ Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) Cultivar

Nutrition management in growth season has a main effect on production and accumulation of secondary metabolites in grapevine berries. In this research the effects of foliar application of potassium sulfate (K; 0, 1.5, and 3%) and iron chelate (Fe; 0, 0.5, and 1%) on accumulation of resveratrol and viniferin and antioxidant capacity of ‘Bidaneh Sefid’ grape berries was evaluated. This study was ...

Evaluation of anxiolytic-like activity of Vitis vinifera juice in mice

Objective: Scientificstudies have shown that Vitis vinifera (V. vinifera) contains flavonoids and stillbenoids. Flavonoids are well known to possess anxiolytic activities. In view of the idea that flavonoids present in V. vinifera could be useful in anxiety, we evaluated anxiolytic-like activity of V. vinifera juice (VVJ). Materials and Methods: Light/dark box and the open field test were used ...

Antioxidant Activity, Total Phenolic Compounds and Anthocyanin Contents in 35 Different Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) Cultivars Grown in Fars Province

Grapes are significant sources of nutritional antioxidants as well as biologically active dietary components. This study was carried out to determine the amount of total phenols, anthocyanins and antioxidant activity of 35 grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) cultivars grown in Fars province (Iran). Ripened bunches were randomly harvested from grapevine collection in Zarghan (Fars province, Iran) Agri...

Advances in table grape breeding in Japan

In Japan, few grape cultivars related to Vitis vinifera existed 200 years ago, on account of Japan's high rainfall. Many V. labruscana and vinifera cultivars were introduced to Japan in the 19th century. Labruscana was grown instead of vinifera, mainly because of severe disease problems and a high incidence of berry cracking. Grape breeding for table use started in the 20th century, with the go...

Cluster and Berry Characteristics of Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) as Influenced by Thinning Agents and Gibberrelic Acid Applications

Some cultivars of grapevine have very compact cluster which adversely affect its quality and marketability. ‘Yaghouti’ is a commercial early table grape cultivar that has very compact clusters. The present study was conducted to assess the effects of mechanical and chemical thinning as well as GA3 application on cluster morphology and berry size of grapevine cv. ‘Yaghouti’. Treatments were chem...
